I bring you Good News of Great Joy by Suria Scholtz
At the end of an unusual year, it is the angel’s words to the shepherds in the fields outside Bethlehem, that has settled in my heart and mind. Good news – Finally! Great Joy – Imagine!
In spite of all the losses and changes, the disappointments and defeats, the Word of God fails not! In spite of fear that is rife these days – of possible loneliness or exposure to Covid, of bills piling up and work drying up, the age-old words of the angel rings clear and true… Do not be afraid!
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Dear friends and followers, may you too echo this sentiment, as you prepare a family feast – even if not everyone can attend, wrap gifts – even if they are humble and homespun and brace yourself for a quiet holiday this year. Regardless, it is my prayer that each and every one of you will experience a deeper understanding of God with us and thus a new, lasting and vivid joy!
Soon we will have to return to a new year with new challenges on every front. As we do so, let us go back in the manner of the shepherds – glorifying and praising God!
