A “Tai-lor-made” Verse

My encouragement to you all is to identify a tailor-made verse from the bible that (has been or will be) tried and tested by your life’s circumstances , yet remains the “stand-out”; “never-forgetting”; “always-reciting” verse for you for years – no matter what”!

I remember on my 18th birthday – I felt the Lord specifically pointing my attention to a verse in Psalm 25 and through the years I have stood on the faithfulness of that verse – through thick or thin! Recently, aged 60, another standout verse from the book of Isaiah has been anchoring my prayers for many months. I can’t help believing that the scripture in Isaiah is my second “tailor-made” verse for my future – for years to come.

Tai-lor-made means made by a tailor or with a tailor’s care and style.

“Tailor-made” verses are few and far between. They are unique that way!

They are customised or bespoke verses that fit our profile and in this analogy, the Lord is our Creator-Tailor who impresses the verse(s) upon us to help and sustain us. They are verses that might well have been “woven” into our “image” when we were created in the womb. They are verses made to measure. Appropriating them, standing upright by means of them, brings God glory – glory akin to “moonlight” (If you would follow my analogy further)

Like Mrs Harris who went to Paris for an haute couture dress especially made for her by the House of Dior. Standing on the podium for her fitting, Mrs Harris heard these words… “It’s not just a gown, it’s all the elegance that goes with it…it’s not just sewing… it’s making moonlight”

A tailor made verse from the Lord, is especially designed for an individual, made or fitted to a particular use or purpose. It stands the test of time and it stands the “believer” in good stead – fixed and stable under the shadow of the Almighty. It is truly a verse that lights our path for years ahead.

May you be encouraged to source and receive your tailor made verse from the Lord today!

Dear friends, it is my prayer that this encouragement from Lindsay will spill over into action and you will make a list of the verse, psalm, or passage from God’s Word that He wove into your DNA, that stood the test of time, that guided you through thick and thin and anchors you in His future – tai-lor-made by the Creator-Tailor as she so beautifully puts it!!
