I was saved at a young age and discipled by my grandmother, who lived with us for about 11 years. My love for Jesus was there from a very young age, and at the age of 12, I knew I was called into full-time ministry, but I had no idea what it would look like or what it would entitle.
Sometimes, we don’t know how and what to do to serve Him, but in His time, all will be revealed. I thought my way of serving would be a nurse because the missionary in our church, 50 years ahead of me, was a nurse, but God took my life in a completely different direction. I ended up studying communication and personnel management. Administrators are rare and sought after in missions, and I served in the Arab World at the age of 24 as an administrator. Through the years, I have fulfilled many roles, but I found my way in being a Personnel Manager and People Care provider for my mission organization for team members living and serving in the Middle East. I love Arabs with all my heart – I was privileged to study the language. However, I am no Arabist, and I am very grateful that I could spend 21 years of my life living and serving the Arab World before returning to South Africa.
My passion is people, and I love to drink coffee, listen, pray and care for them. God has also allowed me much favour in a way that many trust me with so much of their lives, and I feel very humbled to know that I keep so many people’s precious thoughts, tears, and cares in my heart.
My other hobbies are reading, watching movies, and spending time with my family (nuclear and the wider family). I am grateful for lifelong friends who still stand with me after many years.
I married Gerhard at 38 (turned 39 a month later), and God blessed us with a beautiful, perfect little boy, Clemence, who is almost 7. He is full of life, loves people, cares deeply and is a sensitive little soul. As a family, we serve the Lord in whatever way is needed. He has placed us in the Garden Route after our return from the Middle East, and we were not quite sure why, but He is at work, and we love to see how His plans unfold all around us.
