September 21. Oppression
Therefore you shall not oppress one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 25:17 NKJV
Prayer: Lord, I refuse to make peace with any form of oppression, whether I experience it from the inside or outside, whether I see it in government or in family, for it is evidently the work of the devil. God of wholeness and grace, stir me into action, willing to speak up for those who have no voice.
September 17. Open
A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul. Acts 16:14
Prayer: Lord, You who opened Lydia’s heart, also open my heart to all You want to teach me and all You want to do in and through me. Thank You for a wide-open door brimming with opportunity to do good work. Now open my mind to discern, my eyes to see and my hands to give.
September 15. Oil
It is like the precious oil upon the head, coming down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard, coming down upon the edge of his robes. Psalm 133:2
Prayer: FatherGod, I praise You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. May Your invisible presence dwell richly in my life, overflowing like the oil, into healing, consecration and gladness!
September 14. Obedience
Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. Hebrews 5:8
Prayer: Father God, as Your child, help me walk in trusting and unconditional obedience and humility of heart, in all circumstances reflecting Your love. Thank you for blessing submission to Your word with answered prayer.
September 11. Nothing!
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abide in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 5:5
Prayer: Nil, zero, naught, zilch, zip, nada! That is all I can do unless I stay connected to the vine. Jesus, please let that sink in today!
September 10. New Normal
And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Revelations 21:5
Prayer: Lord, since I am living this resurrection life with Christ, help me to act according to His new way of life and love, with my focus habitually on Christ. Deliver me from the dictates of this world and my culture, for they are putting up quite a fight to pull me back into the old ways. I am determined to maintain a new normal.
September 8. No
And He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.” (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.) Mark 6:30
Prayer: There are a myriad reasons why I dread saying NO to people, but I realise more and more that most of them are invalid. Lord, please show me why and when to say NO and how to do it in the right way, for every Yes implies a “No” and I would like my ”Yes” to be in agreement with Your “Yes.”
September 7. Neighbour
Looking for a loophole, he asked, “And just how would you define neighbour?” Luke 10:29 (Message)
Prayer: Lord, reveal if there is any uneasy conscience or secret prejudice hiding in my own heart. As I desire to be a better interpreter of the command to love my neighbour, pour out Your love in my heart, with no regard to nation, religion or creed, apart from those who are in need of Your saving grace.
September 4. Nations
Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession. Psalm 2:8
Prayer: Lord, from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, You have purchased with Your blood, men for God! Birth in me a compassionate heart for the nations, both those far away as well as the diaspora communities around me – to address any spiritual or physical needs they may have.
September 3. Mute
I was mute and silent, I refrained even from good, and my sorrow grew worse. Psalms 39:2
Prayer: Lord, do You hear my silent cries, pouring down my cheeks like hot liquid? Unmute me, for I am consumed with worry, stress, grief and uncertainty. I have become a stranger to myself. Console me with Your words – precisely and clearly audible in my mind and heart!
